Snacks and Beverages
Drinking and eating before bedtime is not a good idea. You should be eating a minimum of 2 hours before you go to sleep, avoid spicy or fatty foods as they cause heartburn. If you are hungry at night, try eating something that triggers serotonin, which makes you sleepy. Carbs (breads or cereals) or foods containing L-Tryptophan (milk, tuna, or turkey), an amino acid, will help.
Drinking too much will send you for numerous trips to the bathroom, interrupting your sleep. Also, alcohol near bedtime can cause you to wake up repeatedly, snore, and possibly develop sleep apnea.
