Clean Out Your House
Temptation can kill you. I’ve tried just making changes for myself instead of my family. That didn’t work very well. I just couldn’t seem to resist chocolate myself. Everyone has their weakness. It was worse when my husband would come home and have some chips or something sweet, when I had been “watching” myself all day.
I remember days when I would have a feeling that “something” was missing. Eventually, I would realize that it was chocolate. Then I would search the house for any form of chocolate I could find. If I did find some, that would satisfy me. Well, for a few moments anyways. I would find myself back at the chocolate before I knew it. And next think I knew, it was gone. Then, I would have another feeling that “something” was missing. I would search the house again until I found more. If I had to, I would dip into the chocolate chips for baking. Yes, that was me, no self control. If I couldn’t find chocolate, I would eat anything sweet.
So, what I had to do was clean out the house. Remove any and all forms of chocolate, sugar and other sweets. that way if I really did have a craving and could not control it, I would have to make it to the store. I had to make sure that when I went shopping for groceries, it was on a full stomach. I had to avoid the “sugar/chip” aisle as well as the ice cream aisle….another vice for me.
You need to do what you can to limit temptation and make it so that when it does present itself, you can’t get to it. These things are not good for anyone in your family and if you keep them in your household, you will only be making it difficult for them as adults to resist them as well.
Now that you have finish, why don’t you give some other techniques a try.
