Yoga Poses
Begin in Savasana: make contact with earth plane, surrender to gravity, press limbs into floor
Bend knees for Four part pelvic breath (breathe out bottom of spine)
Bridge pose (Setu Bandhasana)
Knee to chest pose (Apanasana)
Leg stretches with tie
Bioenergetic “pushing the feet”
Head to knee poses (Janu Sirsasana and Paschimottanasana)
Rolling to belly
Half and full locust (Shalabasana)
Child’s pose (Gharbasana)
Downward Dog (Ardho Mukha Svanasana)
Squat
Spinal roll to stand
Bioenergetic grounding
Open leg forward bend (Prasarita Padottanasana)
Separate leg forward fold (Parsvottanasana)

Use Your Senses
This chakra’s sense is smell. You can use scents to help ground yourself. Essential oils are the best to use since they are natural and will help to raise your vibrational frequency. Here are the essential oils you can use: patchouli, cedar wood, lavender, musk, hyacinth, cinnamon, and sandalwood. It you do decide to use essentials oils, please make sure the you used them correctly and responsibly.
Clothing
Wearing red clothing will help to bring your energetic body down to earth. If your Root chakra is over-active, try wearing the color green.

Meditation
Using Mudras sound, and focus you can help to open and balance the root chakra. You should be sitting in an upright position with your weight on your root chakra.
Sound: Lam (the “a” sounds like “ah”, the “m” sounds like “mng”) chant this several times during each breath, and do it for about 10 breaths
Mudra: Touch your thumb and index finger together. Let the other fingers relax. You can rest your hands on your lap.
Focus: Concentrate on the location of the root chakra, the area between the genitals and the anus.
You can also do a visualized meditation. Sit in a meditative position. Feel and visualize yourself growing roots from your root chakra that extend down deep into the earth. It doesn’t matter if you are on the 15th floor of a buidling. Your roots are strong and will ground you deep within the earth.
Activities
Dancing is a wonderful activity that helps us ground ourselves (using intoxicant when dancing does not count). House cleaning is also a good way to get your root chakra moving. In fact, any kind of physical movement will help to open this chakra. Gardening and being in nature is also very helpful. Going barefoot outdoors. Getting a massage will also help to open the root chakra. Anything PHYSICAL that makes you more aware of your body is great for the Root Chakra.
Contracting your genital muscles will also help to focus your attention on the root chakra and get it moving.
Stones
Using crystals and stones is a great way to balance chakras. The stones for this chakra are the ruby, garnet, bloodstone, red jasper, black tourmaline, obsidian, and smoky quartz. First, make sure the your stone is cleaned and energized. The you can place the stone on the root chakra. This can be difficult to do because of it’s location. I have found it best laying down and placing directly over the genitals.
